Privacy Policy
Placeholder — replace before real launch
This page is a structural placeholder, not a real privacy policy. No company name, address, or data-protection officer contact has been invented — none should be filled in without being accurate. Before uMail handles real users' email, the owner should have this reviewed by qualified legal counsel, matched to what the product actually does.
A real Privacy Policy for uMail would need to accurately describe, among other things:
- What's collected at signup (name, recovery email, password) and why
- That message content, attachments, and contacts are stored in Firebase (Google Cloud) and attachments in Cloudinary — both third-party processors
- How long data is retained, and how a user can delete their account and data
- That this prototype does not yet send real email over SMTP — see the project README for current limitations
- Cookie/local-storage usage (currently: theme preference and mailbox selection only, stored in the browser, never sent to a server)
- How to contact the owner with a privacy question or data request
See Terms of Service for the same placeholder note.
